May I Have This Dance?

I in them and you in me, that they may become completely one, so that the world may know that you have sent me and have loved them even as you have loved me.   John 17:23

Perichoresis

Something within me denies my arrhythmic feet.

     A voice challenges:

          DANCE!

Follow the steps of falling snow,
     the sway of new flowers,
     the fury of the sea,
     the whirl of autumn leaves.

          DANCE!

               Dance
                    freedom
                         courage
                              transformation
                                   life

          DANCE!

Grant rhythm to my rooted feet, O Lord,

So the whispers of my dreams
          stir my spirit
          set my blood tapping
          create an ache for

               life
               freedom
               deep within

that I may evermore

DANCE!

with you.
